Working from home is fast becoming a very popular career path that is widely sought after. Who wouldn’t want their own home business that can make money and give you the ultimate freedom without having to answer to a boss? I know I do. Now days the internet has evolved and there is a new wave of business opportunities that enables people to work at home. There is no doubt that you can make money from a business based at home with your computer, however how much money is entirely up to you. Of course, having a home business is not for everyone. The people that usually succeed are self driven and independently achieve and conquer anything they put their hand to. If you are not a determined one track worker then you are better off staying in the regular job, with set hours, and with a boss telling you what to do.
What do you need to start a website?
Building a website to make money and work from home in your own business does not mean you have to hold stock or even sell anything. You can earn money from having Google Adsense ads, affiliate links, customer memberships and more. Therefore a website start-up cost is very low.
1. Your own website hosting
I build websites and make money everyday and I have NEVER heard of a person claiming that they have made moeny with a free blog. Have you? Anyway, web hosting is cheap and if you want to create a real home business then you must be in control of your own site. People worry about choosing the right webhosting company and I don’t blame them because there are hundreds, if not thousands, of hosting companies fighting for your business. The unfortunate thing is that when they get your business they do not care to follow through with their promises. This is why I recommend Hostgator web hosting as this company has followed through for me, and I have noticed that many of the top bloggers now use Hostgator. Even John Chow had a run in with Bluehost and switched to Hostgator.
2. Get a plan
Your web site must be professional and give the customer information or knowledge to walk away with. This is why you need a plan. Here is a quick mind map I made. You can download this in PDF here.
3. Get traffic to your site
However in order for any web site to work it needs traffic. Here are some ideas on how to get traffic to your web site. After you have generated traffic, optimized your affiliate ads and banners, and loaded up your web site with content, you can now start to earn money. The key is to set up permanent flows of traffic that do not need you to update or constantly work at. Lets get something clear. A website cannot make money unless you have a regular flow of traffic, and traffic does not just show up by itself.
4. Learn to Earn Money
Even if your web site only brings in $50 a week, that is great. Now you can move onto your next one. Soon you will make $100 a week with your two websites. This can obviously go on forever. How hard do you want to work? Once you have a few money making web sites setup the job becomes a little bit easier as now you have more experience. I know with my first web site I did not understand SEO (search engine optimisation), however one day, after about 6 months, it finally clicked. More information about making money: Many websites and blogs struggle to make money as a business because they lack clear knowledge about the main monetization strategies available to them.
