Have you heard of the “nofollow” attribute that webmasters are using to stop links on websites from being followed. This can mean that a link can be clicked on to go to your site, however it will not register as a backlink with the large search engines. There is a lot of debate about this subject and we will not get into that now. You can read “what is a dofollow link” if you need more information.
When you have a blogger blog there is a “nofollow” attribute included on all comments. You can remove this from your blog by editing the template HTML.
Here’s how to remove the blogger nofollow attribute tag:
- Open your Blog dashboard
- Choose The Template tab
- Then choose Edit Html
- Press on download full template in case you accidentally delete something that you shouldn’t
- Then tick the box that says Expand Widget Templates
- Click in the area where the template is and then press the Ctrl and F key together
- A find box will come up. Type nofollow in the space. It will find it for you. Change nofollow to follow.
- Press save template.
There are benefits to removing a nofollow attribute tag from your blogger site. I think it encourages more people to comment at your Blog posts, therefore creating a larger following and more traffic. There are also heaps of websites that are publishing lists of sites that have removed the nofollow tag.
