So you’ve started an online battle with @TacoBell about the integrity of their chalupas or you’ve called out @PizzaHut because their thick crust pizza barely qualifies above half-mast on your pizza crust micrometer, the fact remains that you’ve found yourself in the midst of a Twitter suspension. If you’re a serial-Tweeter, aka you update your crazy musings every 36 seconds, take this opportunity to seek some psychological help or just get outside and breath some fresh air…maybe kick a hacky sack around and be patient because Twitter suspensions don’t have to last forever.
”Woo-Hoo, Two in a row!!!I gotta tweet this.”
How To Know I’ve Been Suspended From Twitter
Immediately when you log onto Twitter you’ll notice what they call a ‘nag bar’ which is a notification box at the top of your feed that says “Your Account Is Currently Suspended”…this is generally your first clue that your account is in fact suspended. You won’t be able to Tweet or Re-Tweet and local fast food chains will likely get a moment of reprise from your incessant hounding. What you’ll need to do to get reinstated is file an appeal through the “more information” tab in the nag bar or by sending an email to the Twitter administrators.
Why You Got Suspended And How To Avoid It In The Future
Twitter is a social media network that aims to provide a good experience for all users. Twitter can be a great way to get personal with your favorite celebrities and to stay on top of breaking news or stories from friends. Users who take advantage of this service will be banned from Twitter. Circumstances that can call for a banning include threatening remarks, racial taunts, porn solicitation, spam marketing and just being an all-around negative Nancy. If you’re guilty of any of these tactics—stop it! Sure it’s possible that after a banning you can simply sign up for a new account and repeat your aggressive tactics but is it really worth it? Stop burning calories and start using Twitter with good intentions.
Random Suspensions and Twitter Followers
You might’ve been complimenting @MarthaStewart on her new brownie recipe then suddenly find yourself suspended. Twitter, like all technological apps, is subject to glitches and it’s possible your recent banning is just a hiccup so be patient for a day or two to see if it returns to normal. Another reason for a banning is due to aggressive following tactics. With the rise in importance of Twitter, the more meaningful and profitable it is to have a high number of followers. There have been reports of people purchasing accounts merely for the followers in the hopes of selling them merchandise in the future. Twitter looks down on these motives and will ban an account if there is an unreasonably high number of follows or un-follows in a short period of time.
Most Twitter users agree that it is a fun way to receive information and share your ideas with the world. In order to keep this peaceful atmosphere, Twitter polices itself to keep the population positive. If you use Twitter with integrity and honesty, you’ll enjoy a rewarding experience and will avoid a Twitter suspension so carry on with due diligence…although I agree the Taco Bell Chalupa does seem pretty dry and bland lately.
Twitter etiquette can be a very finicky– and esoteric– thing! Thanks for the post. Looking forward to more/
Yes I agree Jamie. 🙂
