Changing your default browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox is an easy option when you start to have browsing problems with Internet Explorer. In the old days I used to find the problem with Internet Explorer and struggle with it until the problem was fixed. Now I find the best option is to move on and forget about it for a while. I usually make Firefox my default browser and later when I decide to use Internet Explorer again it has magically has fixed itself %90 of the time.
Now you are probably asking yourself, “Why doesn’t she just stay with Mozilla Firefox and ditch IE for good?” Well I like Internet Explorer. Don’t ask me why though, but it might have something to do with “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks..”
Why would I want to make a default Internet Browser?
It seems stupid and OCDish but selecting a default browser is important if you have a problem with the one you have. One example is when I updated to Windows Vista Service pack two, it caused a problem with Internet Explorer and Java. I tried to fix it the usual ways and ran out of time, leaving the problem unfixed. Now this is when I changed my default browser to Firefox because every time I opened a link in an email it opened IE which did not work…
After changing my default browser to Firefox, every time I clicked a link in my emails it opened Firefox and I had no problems.
Here’s how to make Mozilla Firefox your default browser:
1. Open Mozilla Firefox and click on the tools menu at the top.
2. Choose options from the menu. See the screen shot below.
3. Click on the Adavanced icon at the top.
4. Now make sure you are on the General Tab.
5. Click on the Check Now button. See screen shot below.
6. Now simply click on YES. Now Firefox will be your default browser.
