Hi Mitz, first of all - great site!My problem is that I have recently re-formatted my C drive using the xp disc I purchased a few years ago as it totally crashed and I could do nothing with my pc.All is up and running again now and that is how I then found your web site. However,I did not go into the bios to tell from where to boot first. The only way it would boot was from my xp disc and not from the hard drive. This has gone on for about 3 weeks now,but a few days ago I took the disc out and it then booted ok from the hard drive. All well and good so far.The problem now is that I have been trying to install xp sp3 but it comes with an error message half way through installation as "access denied". I have been to the microsoft website and on here to try some of the solutions including the "fix it for me" at microsoft and using the command box to reset the registry as per instructions on here and at microsoft but the problem still exists.Would this be perhaps because I did not go into bios when re-formatting so that it boots from cd first and then hard drive,or would it be some other reason? I have tried the sp3 download directly from microsoft and tried from automatic updates on my pc many times to no avail. I am logged on as administrator as well.Any help would be great as I am pulling my hair out now after trying things for days on end.thankyou,Richard.
I think I helped you through email.. IF not let me know.
