You can download Powerpoint Viewer 2007 by clicking this link. Powerpoint Viewer is a free Microsoft Product which allows you to view Powerpoint files. http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/8/c/78cd94de-6152-4b6d-adbb-aa4bba6878bc/powerpointviewer2007sp1-kb937158-fullfile-en-us.exe

I guess your not aware that open office will work just fine with not only power point but with these as well, Excel and Word files. Once installed you need to be aware of file format saving preferences. From the tool bar select Tool, Options. This will bring up the OOo preferences. Select Load/Save. Select General and at the bottom of the diallogue box select what format you want the Excel, Word and Powerpoint files to be saved in. If your sending the file back to a Microsoft user, set this to save as Microsoft files. While OOo can open a Microsoft file, Microsoft will not allow you to open an OOo file. Yet another reason to go with Open SourceBearJanuary 6, 2009 at 11:31 pm #30793MitzKeymaster
I agree. Open Office is an excellent program, versatile, reliable and free. It can do anything Microsoft Office does, reads and exports in Microsoft Office formats and in addition, will export PDF and Flash. It also works in Wordperfect and Lotus123 formats! Open Office has many extensions and additions available, free. The wonders of open source software.. However, its also 140MB or more. Powerpoint Viewer is only 25MB. If you dont have a fast connection, of course that can be an issue. If you need a office suite, Open Office is the only choice to make. If you are happy with whatever you are using, and just want to be able to view Powerpoints, then the viewer is obviously a smaller download and a simpler option. If you have a Microsoft Office suite, then Powerpoint is a part of that though, and will also open Powerpoint files of course. I guess we can assume that you dont have Microsoft Office. In that case, Open Office is a superior option to the entire Microsoft Office suite.. and did we mention its FREE? 😉

I actually have the legal CD containing Windows Office, etc and yet found the Open Source 'Open Office' so easy to use and the fact it took up so much less space in my computer, that I've uninstalled Windows Office.Did find I couldn't get pps files to open though with my Open Office so downloaded the mentioned small file Power Point Viewer - and it's great!January 8, 2009 at 1:29 pm #30795BearParticipant
Mara I am guessing the disk you have is works 8.5, which came as part of a bundle on both dell and gateway computers, this is not to be confused with Windows office or Microsoft Office suite or word.BearJanuary 8, 2009 at 4:47 pm #30796MaraParticipant
It was actually given to me by a lovely friend who was a computer tech/sales person working for a large company here in Canada.
