If you are wondering how to find out which graphics card your computer has installed then it is very easy. All you have to do is open the direct X Diagnostic tool.
1. Go to the Start menu.
2. On the Start menu, click Run or for Windows Vista, seven just type into the search box.
3. Type dxdiag and then click OK if in the run box or enter if in the search box.
4. You will see something called dxdiag.exe. Click on it to start.
5. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will open. You will see your system info here.
5. Go to the Display tab at the top of the window.
6. You will see the information you need about your graphics card there.
Along with the exact name of your graphics card, you will see the chip type, the total memory size, the current display mode and more.
So the graphics card model number for me is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650.
Here is another way to find the make and model of your graphics card but I do prefer the first way as it gives more information.
1. Go to the Start menu.
2. On the Start menu, click Run or for Windows Vista, seven just type into the search box.
3. Type in devmgmt.msc and press enter or ok if using run. Go to device manager another way.
4. Look for Display adapters and press on the small Plus Sign to expand.
5. You will see graphics card model number there. See screenshot below.
