I have been wanting to have an alarm go off when my battery is going to run out on my laptop. At the moment it just shuts down while I am on it and looses all my work. Then when I start the laptop again it says I have shut it down properly and it has to run tests. I have got windows vista but I do not know where the settings are.. I dont know where anything is in Windows Vista.

Hello coolbyYou can set an alarm to go off when your battery is about to run out. Right click on the power icon in the notification area.Choose power options from the menu.On the power options window choose Change plan settings.Click on Change advanced power settings.Open the battery section by clicking on the plus sign.Under this heading there are all the settings to make an alarm go off when the battery is low.Make sure you save changes before you exit. Hope this helps.March 11, 2009 at 9:51 pm #31333
I can see some of those settings but not the ones you are talking about. I says nothing about alarm but it just says low battery notification and you can turn this on or off? If I turn it on how will I know what it will do? How is it going to notify me?
