I am having problems with my Toshiba laptop. I press the power button to turn on my computer and I hear the sounds of my computer starting, but the screen remains black. When I tried it again a few minutes ago, when I first pressed the power button, I think the screen flashed, but that was it. The battery needs to be replaced, so I cannot go without my computer being plugged in, even for a minute. Please help! I want to get my files off my computer, so I just need to have my screen working for a little bit. Thanks!

If you think there is a problem with the battery…First thing i would probably do is remove the dead battery. then try starting the laptop without that. If that does not work I would buy a small 2.5" external harddrive case to put the hard drive in..Then you can plug it into another computer to get the files off.

Check your RAM if it’s properly connected cause black screen appear due to improper function of RAM.
