Hi Guys.I have a question.I am in the process of downloading Mitz's Cam Studio Video. With Opera's downloader,I can only get around 30kb/sNext I tried IE and round 67 kb/sSwitched to Bit Torrent and just on 300kb/sWhy the vast differences? Thanks. 🙂
Quick questionAre you referring to bits (little b)Or Bytes (big B)There is a differance of X8 for those of you whom don't know
How would I know.It just says on all the downloaders KB/S.IE says to download the video was approx 48 minsBit Torrent downloaded the Video in 11 mins.It doesnt say Bits or bytes. Why should a torrent downloader be so much faster? There are no seeders in a download like this.
Ok, its probubly gonna be bytes =)But as for why its different, firefox is optimized for everything but downloads, as far as I know....Let's see if someone can help us out
I think it is like anything that is included with Windows…There is always a better program that will do it faster and do it thoroughly. Its like the jkdefrag tool you showed me…or the reno uninstaller….etc etc….I use shareaza to download torrents or what ever and it is great too…The built in downloader just sucks….
Agree Mitz.I like OPERA but the in built downloader sucks bigtime. We are getting some great programs as you say,and RarZilla is a fantastic unrar, that Merlin suggested, and most definately should be included in the Library. 🙂
Odd I normally have no problem with Downloads using Firefox, I'm on a 2mbps Connection (Yep it's a slow speed but I'm about 2 miles from my nearest Broadband Exchange so I'm doing good to get that speed) and I download at around 200KBps consistently. Not sure how long it would take to download that Video your on about because I use the Windows Media Player Add-On in Firefox so it loads and buffers the videos instead of downloading it to my Computer, I think you mean this one - http://pctipforum.com/index.php?topic=336.0I buffered about 10% of the Video in 2 minutes not sure how big the File is?But based on Dougie saying it took 11 minutes to download at 300KBps, I'm guessing around 200MB which means mine would take 20 minutes through Firefox and I'm guessing my Buffering Speed was around 150KBps.
