Hello everyone!I have a Friend who has a Dell Dimension 8300 Desktop Computer. I just installed a new Western Digital HDD on it for him. Periodically, he can't boot the computer up and when he does, it sometimes goes to a black screen and has 6 beeps. When I go there, everything is fine. I ran WD Diagnostics and it passed, I ran chkdsk/f/r and it was fine. I am beginning to think it might be a bad PSU or a bad MOBO. any ideas? Thanks for your help, in advance!September 1, 2011 at 2:20 pm #33430
I guess I posted this in the wrong section, can someone please move it to the BSOD/Black Screen Thread?September 2, 2011 at 12:42 am #33431
Hi thereIt is ok to post here..We will forgive you .. 🙂Was there any problems before you installed a new hard drive? What about how the hard drive is plugged in?What about the cable used? Have you swapped it?Did you check the settings in the BIOS?September 2, 2011 at 5:50 am #33432

1. I don't think there were any issues.2. I unplugged the HDD and it still did it.September 2, 2011 at 5:57 am #33433
What happens if you put the old hard drive back in?September 3, 2011 at 2:23 pm #33434
I really don't think it's the HDD….I had it disconnected and it was still doing the same thing…I pulled the Memory out and reseated them. Blew out the CPU and so far it's fine, that I know of…

Just be ready if it does happen again…take note of every little detail in case something was missed the first time.September 4, 2011 at 3:08 pm #33436
will do…so far, it hasn't happened again…maybe the memory got dislodged or something when it was being transported. As of today, he plans on donating it to someone and he is going to get a Laptop now…But thanks!October 19, 2012 at 1:48 am #33437
This is not your set of task therefore this problem is happening in your system. If you are unable to recover it then try to contact with computer expert so that he can recover your problem as soon as possible.
