From my experience with unbuntu is don't really worth it, seriously, Linux can turn out to be very complicated and very boring I may add. Ubuntu also lets you boot directly from CD (older versions did) so I recommend you to just boot from the CD at first to take a look at ubuntu and "feel" the OS a little before you start to actually install it. Its grate that they have this option, I sometimes us the CD to repair windows based computers that stopped booting a new windows CD. With ubuntu I have a hole OS available just by inserting the CD, it lets me format everything when things are to messed up to fix.
