Hi every body,I am having a problem with my sisters PC after 4 years! She had the problem that sometimes you see the black screen with the flashing white cursor. Mostly a x-times reboot solves the problem. This happens very very often lately. Almost in 2 or 3 days!so what I did, I went to her to check what the problem is. I went to BIOS and noticed that the cursor jumps from hours to minutes and to seconds and back. As if some one holds the left cursor key on the keyboard. Had no chance to change anything. so I started to pull everything out. So left only the keyboard and the Monitor attached. after a reboot found that the BIOS acts normal. So I went and tried everything till I found that a USB device (wireless Logitech mouse reviver) was causing the problem. I was at least sure that was the problem, since the boot problem was gone away for at least 3 days, till she had the same problem with the black screen again today which caused her to do a restore... any guess what? everything is gone!so, I am very interested to find the problem (she want to buy a new computer) since I used to assemble my own PCs part by part 7 years ago before I started to use Laptops! 😉anybody here had such problem? I guess there must be something with USB ports or even RAM?Thanks in advance for your help,CheersMay 22, 2011 at 2:53 am #33251
If you think the mouse was a problem, did you remove the driver for it..or maybe upgrade the driver? I would also remove the mouse from the devices list completely. Another thing you could possibly try is to insert the Windows system cd to do some diagnostics. It seems like you know what you are doing but are just missing something.
