Compaq Presario C500 Laptop. XP OS.BIOS Upgrade Version F.14 A upgraded to F.24 A.- System boots up to XP logo then restarts. Sequence repeats endlessly.- Tried using PE Builder and integrated the exe file to try and revert BIOS back to F.14 A but it said it was missing a file. - Same when I booted system using partition magic OS and tried running BIOS exe to install/re-flash with first version again.- On first upgrade the installer said it was backing up a copy of the BIOS but did not say where nor how to reverse the process.- Trying to navigate the HP website to find specific issues is like trying to find a pin in a 44 gallon drum of tapioca pudding.Any help or suggestions that have worked previously would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.November 1, 2010 at 6:10 am #33141

Hi,I have reset BIOS to default but the default is BIOS Ver F.24 A which is the version which causes the crash. The model concerned is a laptop so a pain in the bum to open which I was hoping to avoid, I will open it tomorrow and let you know how I go, cheers.November 1, 2010 at 10:27 am #33143
Hi Pete sorry didnt read it was a laptop.Press F10 on boot up.Set your first boot to the HDD that your OS is on.Turn all others off.Make sure you have the latest MOBO Chipset Drivers installed.Try that firstNovember 3, 2010 at 6:30 am #33144
Can you still get into the bios when you start it… It is strange that the logo screen is showing, so the bios is fetching the OS..???
