Suddenly there are several programs I am unable to open, including Microsoft word (and I have a paper due in 6 days!)The error message I receive is such "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect"I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. Can anyone help me?
Hi and welcome to the forum 🙂We need to know some things before we can hopefully work this one out for you.Firstly, what version of Windows are you using? ie XP, Vista etcSecondly, more details on the programs. Which programs are causing the grief? You will need to be a little specific here too.. for instance is it Office2003 or Office2007?Thirdly, just how long ago did this start happening, did it happen to all of the affected programs at once, and do you recall any events that occured at that time, like perhaps installing new hardware or a new program? It seems likely to me that for some reason, your computer is suddenly missing the MS Visual C++ package, but lets work through it step by step 🙂 The C++ package is a necessary part of many programs, and will certainly come up with exactly that message.Let us know the additional details I've asked for, and I think we can solve this one for you 🙂
Thank you so much for your quick response!I am using windows xp Programs I have noticed failing are all microsoft office 2007adobe readeranything online that is in pdf formAbout a week ago I installed Keyboarding Pro and had some issues with the distance learning online format. In the tutorial to solve this issue I was directed to install something I think was called soaptool kit. It never installed properly,
Sorry I've taken so long, some idiot used a backhoe on the local fibre optic network and I have been offline
Thank you! That worked great. I suppose that should have been an obvious fix, but I have almost no experience with computers. I will remember that trick for next time. Also, your download worked great and does seem much faster. I will pass along the information. Thanks again, JODI
