Hello and thanks. I have a page that is getting 1st page Google rank for several keywords, let's say for ex: fruitisgood.com/apple/ I have another page (same site) that is not ranking well but has better keywords in the url for ex: fruitisgood.com/red-delicious-applesThe content on both pages is almost identical but they were built before I had any idea what I was doing (a tiny bit better now:). The first page is where the majority of traffic goes. There are many links (the same) on both pages with YouTube videos that open internally but each has it's own page.August 16, 2011 at 9:48 am #33377MitzKeymaster
Hi thereIt is hard to give advice without seeing the pages in question but:-August 17, 2011 at 1:23 am #33378
Sorry, it wasn't a secret. I wasn't sure if it was permitted. The page that I built the most links to is http://www.todayhaspower.com/song/It was ranked first page for a couple of things but not the big key word (motivational songs).I was up to 19 for that keyword. The other page is http://www.todayhaspower.com/motivational-songs/ and was ranked at 232 for the keyword motivational songs.I seo'd the /song/ page (2 days ago) since it was performing well and wanted to give it a nudge, but now Google switched them on me, except they dropped the first one into the 280's and only raised the other to the 45th spot! Now, I'm thinking I should redirect the /song/ page to the /motivational-songs/ page or else it might fall out altogether. One other item is that the /song/ page was ranked number 4-6 for 2011 motivational songs purely by accident. Not sure if I will lose this ranking if I redirect. The /song/ page is the best source of organic traffic that I get (50 visitors a day).August 17, 2011 at 2:01 pm #33379MitzKeymaster
ok I do not recommend a redirect as you have the same content.. Well it looks like it is meant to be anyway.. this would look like you were trying to cheat the system… the /song/ page is a keeper...You can definitely SEO this page. The only thing that will be missing is the 'motivational-song" in there url...You have it everywhere else. I would delete the other page. Then I would build internal links with the anchor text : motivational songs, top motivational songs, motivational songs list, etc..making a clear choice will stop the confusion. It is all about focus so having too many pages with the same thing waters down the impact. My question is how do you monetize this? Just amazon or other affiliates as well?August 18, 2011 at 3:01 am #33380
Thanks for the response.Point taken on the redirect. As far as internal links: Anchored and pointing to the /song/ page right? Well, as far as monetizing...yes, Amazon. But, it's not fair to say monetizing since we haven't made penny one from it
