I wasnt using Vista at all so I cant compare. I am back to basically what I was using in XP, the same programs etc that I was running. Running about 37 processes, XP was using 40%-45% of my 2GB RAM, and usually hovered between 5%-10% CPU usage at idle. Using Windows 7, running the same software as I did with XP, I have 45 processes, using 36% RAM and 3% CPU usage at idle. The only difference between old software and new is that I am running Nero8 instead of the incompatible Nero6. Obviously I have Nero Scout disabled in both cases.
