Hi thereI have a few rules to stick to..Do not have to many teirs to your nav system. For example you have your categories and then you have your posts under them...I do not like having categories in categories etc...this makes every post only two clicks from the homepage...As for passing page rank around to other pages...I can see that pages linking directly from the homepage get better PR..but not all pages can do this so sometimes you can build pr on category pages to pass better ranking.
