Firewire and USB are separate technologies, and unfortunately its not possible to get an adapter which converts Firewire into USB.If you are sure you dont have a Firewire socket on your computer, you basically only have one option. You need to install a PCI Firewire card. This is an internal addon for your computer which plugs into a PCI slot ( a socket on your motherboard that is designed to accept additional facilities) and will have a piece that sits at the back with sockets to plug into, just like this picture. Not all computers have the same kind or number of available PCI slots. Since I get the feeling you wont be comfortable with fitting internal parts to your computer, and you dont know what kind of PCI format your computer uses, I suggest you take the computer tower to a computer shop and have them install the correct "PCI Firewire Card." The card should cost between $20-40 and the labour should be no more than 30 minutes. Before you actually request them to fit the card, just have them have a quick look over the computer and establish that this is in fact the only option.Take the camera and its connecting cable with you too, and explain what it is that you want to do, just to be sure.Once you have this card fitted, you'll be able to use your original cable to connect your camera to the computer, and use whatever software you were using before.I'm sorry I wasnt able to be of more help than this. 🙁
