Excel is a wonderful numbers tool, if you know how to use it. This software can do all sorts of amazing calculations but you need to know how to use the formulas. For example I preciously you can add, subtract, divide, multiply numbers, and so much more. In this article I will show you how to just multiply.

## Multiply Numbers in Excel – Two Numbers

Firstly I need to tell you that the asterisk (*) is used to multiply. Therefore the most simple way to multiply two numbers is to click on a cell and press the = symbol. Then put the first number, the asterisk, then the second number. Press enter and you will have you answer.

For example you might have =2*7 and in the cell the answer will be 14 as 2 multiplied by 7 is 14.

Another way is to multiply numbers in Excel:

1. * Click on a cell* where you want the answer to appear.

2. Press * =*.

3. Then * click once on the first number* you want in the equation. In this example we pressed on the A1 cell which has number 8 in it.

4. Now you will see the A1 appear in the formula bar. * Type an asterisk* then

*for the equation.*

**click on the second cell**For a better explanation you can see the video tutorial below.

=A1*A3

## Multiply a Range of Numbers

Just say you want to multiply an entire range of numbers. So for example as shown in the screenshot below, 8x7x6x5x4.

1. * Click on a cell* where you want the answer to appear.

2. ** Type in = **and start to type in the word product. A

**will appear with the word product. Click on that.**

*drop down menu*3. Now ** click on the first cell** in your sum.

4. Go to the * right bottom corner of that first cell* and when a

**appears,**

*smaller cross***and drag the selection down the column. You can see how to do this in the video below.**

*hold down the left mouse button*5. Finish your formula with a * closing bracket*. )

6. Press ** enter**. This will multiply 8x7x6x5x4.

=PRODUCT(A1:A5)

## Multiply a Range of Numbers By Another Number

In the screenshot above I have multiplied all of the numbers and then multiplied the total of that by 2.

=PRODUCT(A1:A5,2)

## Multiply 3 Numbers In Excel

Well this is as easy as multiplying two. You can simply use the formula =4*7*5 or you can also use cell references like =A1*B3*B7
