Sorry, been away for a while. I can access other machines shares on the network by typing there ip address in the run box. (i.e. \\192.168.1.147). On the XP machines they show up in the network neighborhood. But not on the W7Pro machine. I thought it was set to automatically detect. This has gotten me by but I would like to get it right. BTW there is a w98 machine that we sometimes fire up and it sees as is seen.

hi DG
I have to tell you that I have not even needed to do anything with a Windows Seven computer...It just hooks in itself... Thats if you have everything on automatic. But I have a Windows Ultimate and I dare say it will depend on the version you have.
Maybe you should try running the Windows XP network setup wizard so it can let the windows seven computer know where it is...Also you might want to check your firewall settings and the router settings, and file sharing settings...

Thanks for the video. After I replaced my router I lost network browsing in both the XP and W7 machines. I can get online and print to shared printers but not see network shares. In XP I used Search for Computers to add the Public folders of the W7 machines as network places. Do you know how to do the same in W7? The network map doesn't show the other machines at all.
