In Windows Vista and Seven you can remove programs from your computer pretty much the same. Of course it looks different and a few names have changed but don’t let that fool you. Just be sure you know what programs and files are safe to delete before doing anything drastic!
Add or Remove Windows Programs – Video Tutorial
Hi, in this session we will describe how to use the Add or Remove Programs tool to add, change, or remove a program that is installed on your Windows XP-based computer. You can use this feature to change the installation of Windows installer-based program such as Microsoft Office XP.
To change or remove a program:
1. Click Start.
2. Go to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Under this, click add or remove programs again. This will open up add or remove programs window. You can see a list of currently installed programs in this window.
Also if you would like to see an update installed on this machine, you can tick the box “Show Updates.” This will list all of the updates installed on this machine. In order to change or remove a specific program, you can click the button given against the program. Make sure that the program you click in add or remove programs tool in the program that you want to remove from a computer. Some of the programs may not prompt you to confirm the renewal before the program is removed from the computer. So you need to be very cautious before hitting change or remove here.
You can also add or remove windows components from the option here. If you click it, Windows XP will give you a list of all of the windows components with this copy of Windows XP. You can make a selection to any of the components and can get into details of those components. Like say if you would like to remove Windows Messenger then just untack the option, click next, and Windows will configure all those components removing Windows Messenger from your machine. Click Finish when you’re done. Similarly, if you would like to add any of the available components in Windows XP, you can go back to add or remove windows components and then check the component you wish to get on your PC. To add Windows Messenger back again, go select Windows Messenger, click next and Windows Messenger will be added back to your Windows XP machine. Click finish when you’re done.
