What is a .nfo File?
A NFO file is usually a readme file for a warez or crack. It usually contains information about the software you have downloaded, sometimes the instructions to crack the software to make it usable.
How to View NFO Files?
The first and best way to view a NFO file is to open this file within a NFO viewer. This not only protects your computer from viruses, it also makes the file more readable.
There is a free application that will open NFO files, along with JPEG, GIF and more. It is called ACiD View 6. This software is an open source software and comes free without any malware or spyware contained. Nevertheless you should still scan your computer just in case.
ACiD View 6 is is a multimedia viewer for Windows. Its the first to support a variety of both textmode and bitmap graphic formats such as ANSI/ASCII, XBIN, GIF, JPEG and PNG. Additional features include a modem-speed simulator, VGA previewing and more!

The next way is to open the NFO file in notepad. You will probably be able to read the file fine but this is not a good computer security tip as these types of downloads are known to be harmful.
If you are sure that the NFO file is safe then here is how to open it in notepad.
1. Go to where the file is stored on your computer.
2. Right click on the file and choose open with from the menu.
3. If you see an option to open with notepad then choose that option. If you do not see what you want then click on choose a program from a list.
4. If you see notepad listed then select it by making it blue. Tick on the box below that says always use selected program to open this kind of file so all NFO files open with notepad after this.
5. Then press ok.
If you do not see notepad in the program list you can press on the browse button and navigate to C:\Windows\system32 and find notepad.exe application file.
