The idea of guest posting is a popular way to drive traffic and is also seen as an ideal method to increase website visibility. Even search engines like the fact that these blog posts are informative and tend to attract audiences online. So, you may think how does guest posting work? When people find that the content posted on a guest blog is well-written and engaging, it is possible that they will read the entire article and then reach the author bio box included at the end of every post.
Here you can place a link to the website that you want to promote. When readers find that the article interesting, they may as well consider clicking on the links and this is where the traffic comes from.
Also, in addition to this you can create a conversation among people who read the post and encourage them to comment on the article. This usually increases the traffic much more while readers may reach out to you by clicking onyou avatar that links back to your site. So, in a way you get to increase your reach to potential masses online that will increase your search engine ranking for the website substantially. This makes it evident to understand the considerations that you must incorporate so as to make your guest blogging more effective.
#1. Familiarize Yourself
When you find a blog to guest post, ensure to attain a fair level of familiarity about the website you want to write for at first. Understand who their readers are and what are they usually interested about. A good blog post will add to their content that enables present readers of the site to enjoy greatly. If you can generate interest among fellow bloggers and those who visit the website regularly, it will also hook new followers to the space. So, eventually the traffic can be redirected to your own blog or website that you want to promote.
#2. Check Website Contents
I usually check to see whether the article topic that I have in mind is already present in the guest blogging site or not. With lots of bloggers posting their contents regularly, such coincidence is entirely normal. I do this so that there are not repetitive subjects that are being addressed. As a reader I will definitely not take time to read another take on the similar lines when it is evident from the topic itself.
#3. Simply Network
What I realized before writing my guest posts was that it would be more endearing to create a relationship first. So, I started small by leaving comments on the blog posts that others have written. The aim was not necessarily to become great friends but to ensure that my name wasn’t a relatively a new one for the site. If my name is familiar, it is likely that my guest blog request will be given more consideration as opposed to being granted to a complete stranger.
#4. Follow Protocols
When you look to provide your guest posts to be published in a blog, make sure to follow the guide to creating content rather than imposing your own suggestions. Every blog follows specific protocols, so it is best to respect that. See the guest post page for this site. There are clear guidelines to adhere to.
#5. Search Engine Visibility
One of the most important benefits of guest blogging is the significant rise in website traffic that can be attained for the website. This highly contributes to search engine results and a greater page rank. Every blog post links back to your website and more the relevant backlinks higher is the page ranking of the site. Remember that deep links are more effective in pulling search engine traffic than the landing pages. However, caution must be induced here, as no site owner wants to have guest posts that ends up looking nothing more than spam and simply promotional.

Extra Tips From Mitz
Fill in Your Authors Bio
I have seen some crazy authors descriptions. This is serious as you use this space to capture your new potential website visitors.
Tell the readers about you. What is your expertise, your passion, your goal? Temp them with something they might need so they can visit your site to get it.
Format the Guest Post
You might be a great writer, but sending in a guest post that needs editing is annoying and definitely holds up the publishing date. If the website requires small paragraphs, H2 headings, bullet points, and one image, do this exactly. I often get guest posts formatted nicely but not in accordance with this site. This just creates work and I sometimes think that i might as well write the whole article myself, as it would sometimes be quicker.
Be Careful Where You Post
Yes that is right. Choosing the right website to guest post on is very important. Not all sites are right for you. A site might appear to have an engaged audience but can be in fact full of spam. Other sites might seem lifeless but are just right to guest post on.
I think also when guest blogging you must articulate your primary reason for doing so. There really are 3 reasons: (1) for SEO benefits, (2) for direct traffic and (3) to build authority within a niche. All 3 are not mutually excluded. However, the reason is you choose to guest blog is important with respect to which blog you wish to write for. There are many decent blogs with not a huge amount of traffic that are not that difficult to guest post for. These opportunities are good primarily for SEO. Then there are the HUGE traffic sites that are far more difficult to guest blog for. Your article may take a month to get published. Your article may be revised. You’ll need to spend a great deal of time on your article. However, these posts are great for SEO, building authority and often direct traffic. The downside is it’s more legwork and there aren’t all that many HUGE traffic sites within a niche.
My approach is to do a mix.
I always do my homework before selecting a site for guest posting. You should review the site to ensure it has all the elements you’re looking for. If you want an engaging type of audience directed back to your site, you need to make sure the potential site encourages interaction. Aligning you expectations puts you on the right path and maintains the value in your efforts.
