I had been using Windows Vista Ultimate for about an hour at the most when I decided to get rid of some the annoying and unnecessary features that it imposed on me. The first and most obvious one was the Windows Vista Welcome Center. It opened every time the computer started. I could understand it coming up the very first time you started Windows Vista, but not every time. So follow the steps below to disable it and stop The Welcome Center from opening at every startup.
In certain versions of Windows Vista you can un-tick a box at the bottom of the Welcomes Center to stop it from opening on startup.
If this is not available try this:
- Click the Windows Vista Start Icon in the bottom left corner
- Type msconfig in the search box
- Click Continue in the User Account Control (another annoying thing)
- Click on the Startup Tab
- Untick the Show welcome center as pictured below.
- Click Apply, then OK
If you need to re-enable The Windows Vista Welcome Center just go back and tick the box again. Also depending on what version of Windows Vista you have, sometimes there is a check box to tick or untick to disable showing the Welcome center at startup.
