Change audio CD copying options and settings in Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player is a free program that comes with Windows XP. It is great for ripping your audio cd’s or making your mp3′s into music cd’s. To perform these tasks efficiently you will need to change the cd copying options and settings in Windows Media Player.

To get to the Windows Media Players options.

  1. Open Windows Media Player
  2. Click on the tools menu at the top
  3. Choose Options from the drop down menu

 audio cd settings

Copy Music settings you change in Windows media Player?

Copy Music TAB

  1. Change the location of your music. Where you want it to go when it is ripped form an audio cd.
  2. Change the file format. Which format do you want your music to be converted to. Windows Media Audio is the default music file format. If you have Media Player 10 or more you can choose mps.
  3. Copy protect music.
  4. Copy CD when inserted. When you insert an audio cd it will automatically rip it to your folder.
  5. Eject when copying is completed. I like it when the cd pops out because I know it is finished.
  6. Audio quality. 128kbps is minimum CD quality so I always choose to make my music higher than that. Just slide the bar across to where you want it.

Notes:

  1. File Types TAB. If the boxes are ticked next to a file type, this means that Windows Media Player will be associated with that file. For example if .avi is selected and I open an avi movie to play, Windows Media Player will open to play it.
