How to save your Windows Live Messenger settings

There are two folders to backup with Windows Live Messenger.

C:Documents and Settingsyour user nameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftMessenger

This one holds your personal emotions, backgrounds, and winks.

C:Documents and Settingsyour user nameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Contacts

This file has the contacts, which is also stored on the internet. However if you change your sign in details this can be a handy file.

If you have window live installed on your computer, to restore these folders, simply paste them into the same folders you took them from.
