The best places to put your Google Adsense ads
When placing your Google Adsense ads on your web page, there are a number of factors to take into account. For example, what type of content do you have? Do you sell any products? If so, do you want to draw your customer away from your site for a $1.00 click or keep them for a $50 sale? This is why it is hard to tell you where to place your ads, however here are a few ideas.
- Google Adsense Ads that are strategically placed at the top of your web page have proved to be the best performers. They should live in harmony with other content on your page. However, be warned that they may draw your visitor away from your site before they have seen any content. Not a problem when you have an interesting website.
- Ads that are placed in amongst the content, blending into and articles or next to images also have a good click through rate. These types of ads may encourage the visitor to at least read the content on your webpage before they actually leave.
- Wide adds work well, according to Google. Around 300×250 or 250×250 are very popular and can blend into your content easily. Also the 728×90 is also very popular and has a great Click through rate.
If a Google Adsense ad is not performing in a particular position and you have tried changing colours and borders, move them. You can also replace them with a different size ad. Experiment with all different combinations until you find something that suits you.
Most people say it is best to have text ads that have no background, or the same as your webpage, and no border either. This way they blend with your content, letting people sometimes presume it is part of the information you provide.
I like to be able to tell the difference between my content and the google adds. I always give them a nice contrasting colour to make them stand out, but look good at the same time.
