Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A Laptop Review

Although this website has been purely focused on Windows based computer tips, however we could not pass up the chance to do a Laptop review about the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL. Tips4pc is definitely not racist towards Apple Mac and we have even thought about making a website that focuses on tips for Mac. This article is for all you Apple Macbook fans out there!

The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A has almost everything going for it. Its 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor is way faster than you’ll need for most desktop applications and fast enough for most games, plus it runs cool, so you won’t need to use one of those geeky laptop cooling pads while you try to watch a DVD or play a game during a bus or plane ride.

What’s Special About The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A

Something else sets this sweet notebook apart from your typical geeky laptop—it only weighs four and half pounds (2 kilograms). There aren’t many full-sized netbooks that can boast of weighing less than my copy of the combined Lord Of The Rings trilogy. It won’t weigh you down—you can put it in your backback and forget it’s there.

With 4 GB of RAM, the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A has enough memory to handle any normal situation—gaming, word processing, photo editing, even memory-intensive video editing. Only a few people who do intensive database engineering or computer-generated image rendering would need more RAM.

The same holds true for the screen: anyone doing normal work on their notebook will find that the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A has just the perfect screen size of 13.3 inches. It’s big enough to do real work, but small enough that the whole notebook is easy to carry with you. And, with a resolution of 1280×800, it’s the perfect size for playing high-definition (HD) video, reading websites without squinting or getting headaches, and playing games rendered by the outstanding on-board NVIDIA graphics card.

One Of My Favorite Features In The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A

One of my favorite features is the Mac OS X operating system. This Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A uses the most recent version, 10.6 Snow Leopard, which features various minor improvements over previous versions of Mac OS X. But, if you’re used to Windows, you’re in for a real treat—on a Mac, everything works. Sure Macs are easy to use, but the thing you’ll notice above all is how, as I said, everything just works. Your grandmother could use this notebook, but you’ll probably want to keep it for yourself.

Does The Battery Really Last For 10 Hours On The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A?

Yes, the battery does last for 10 hours—but only if you lower the screen brightness to its lowest level and turn everything off, including wifi, bluetooth, and accelerated HD video and games. But, then, what’s the point of buying the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A?

However, you can still get a great 6 hours of battery life if you simply reduce the screen brightness to medium. Then you can keep on playing games or surfing the web with your bluetooth mouse. Plus, with 6 hours of battery life, you can watch 2 (maybe 3) different movies, making this a great notebook to take with you during long trips.

You can also just close the lid to put the Mac into sleep mode (which works a lot better on Macs than it does on Windows). From a full charge, the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A can spend up to 3 days in sleep mode and it will turn back in less than 5 seconds after you open the lid, making it perfect for carrying around between classes.

What Can You Do With The Multi-Touch Touchpad On The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A?

You’ve probably used Apple’s multi-touch technology on an iPhone—now imagine how much more productive it can make you on a real computer. The first thing you’ll notice about the touchpad on the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A is that there’s no button. That’s because you can click by simply tapping the touchpad. By eliminating the button, Apple was able to make the touchpad a lot bigger, which gives you a lot more room for dragging, scrolling, and making multi-touch gestures like swipe, pinch, and rotate.

Plus the touchpad uses a silky-smooth glass cover that will wow you if you’re used to the cheaper plastic covers on PC notebooks. Similarly, the keys on the keyboard are full-sized, easy to press, and (I don’t know how else to say this) fun to type on.

Other Great Features Of The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A

  • Wireless-N support for the fastest connection on networks that support it, plus full backward compatibility with 802.11 a/b/g so you can surf the web at the office or your favorite coffee shop.
  • Bluetooth support so you can use wireless external mice (like the nifty Apple magic mouse), stream music to your bluetooth headset, and sync with your cell phone.
  • Video camera so you can use Apple iChat, Apple FaceTime, Skype, Google Chat, or other programs to chat with your friends or family—or use one of the many distance-learning programs that require regular video chats.
  • DVD player and burner that can play or burn almost any DVD ever created. (Sorry, you can’t watch Bluray.)
  • Size: 12.78×8.94×0.95 inches (32.46×22.70×2.41 cent1meters). To give you an idea of how small that is, grab a stack of about 75 pages from your printer and draw an apple on the top page—that’s almost exactly what your notebook will look like. (And at 4.5 pounds [2 kilograms], it’s only going to be about two or three times as heavy.)
  • Two USB 2.0 ports and one firewire port to let you connect your disk drives and devices at max speed.
  • NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256 MB of high-performance shared memory with hardware-accelerated HD video rendering for the most common formats so you can watch DVDs for up to six hours without draining the battery and play games at their highest level of detail.

Conclusion

Nobody makes notebooks like Apple, and the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A proves the engineers at Apple are still at the top of their game. If this is your first Mac, be prepared to fall in love (and to throw out all of your legacy PCs in about a month). If this is an upgrade, prepare yourself to be blown away by this little notebook’s amazing performance.

I think my housemate has this laptop. Or at least one similar to this.
It’s very cool, looks good, and quite easy to use.
But for some reason I still don’t like the OS. And I feel like it’s overpriced, just like the Iphone. For the same money as this macbook costs you can get a better windows operated laptop.
