To be completely honest, sometimes I find myself not using my iPad as much as I had hoped to. I bought it to run my business on the IPad. Now don’t get me wrong, the iPad has endless features to offer. I love the big screen, and the user friendly design, but sometimes I find my iPad just sitting around not being used. This is especially true when I am on the computer. However a few new apps for the iPad now offer what a second monitor or laptop might provide. Air Display offers a friendly and easy to use app that can connect your your computer to your iPad.
Air display can be used on your iPad. It runs through apple software, and can be bought in the app store for $9.99. Now some of the questions you might ask are; “How fast does it work? Do I have to buy the app for my computer as well? Is it easy to set up? Do I need a MAC to use my iPad 2 as a second monitor?” These are just a few of the questions I commonly hear. Lets just take some time to answer each one individually.
How fast does it work?
With air display one thing that may be an issue is speed. Sometimes users experience a lag between what is on your monitor and what is on your iPad. While this is true that you may experience a lag, it is not always the case and often depends on a number of different things. The most common reason for a lagging screen, is a lagging computer. Make sure your Mac is running only programs that need to run, and if your have downloaded every program imaginable, while never uninstalling something, you are going to have problems. Another thing that might affect iPad screen speed is what program you are running on your second screen, and the size of the file. Obviously the smaller the faster, and the larger the slower. The most problematic reason for a lag on your second screen is a bad internet connection.check out our tips to tweak your settings to get a faster internet connection. If your internet runs a little slow to begin with then you are going to have trouble with your second screen. This is especially true if have a sub par wireless router. I have the best package Cox has to to offer, and a middle-of-the-road wireless router. I usually do not experience a lag.
Do you have to buy an app when Using Your iPad as a Second Monitor?
When purchasing this app you are going to want to consider a few things. First is that you do not have to buy the application for your laptop or desktop. This is a common mistake, and even one I am afraid to admit, that I made myself. The app for you computer runs $19.99, and getting refunds can be a hassle. Don’t make the 20 dollar mistake, unless of course you want your computer to be the second monitor. But in that case I recommend just wiring up. The main lesson here; ONLY BUY the $9.99 app for your iPad. You can usually buy iPhone applications to use on your iPad, however this app is just for IPad.
Using Your iPad as a Second Monitor – Is it Easy to Setup?
Next question. Okay so many are wondering how easy it is to set up. It is extremely easy to set up, and use in minutes. First step is to visit Avatron to download the program. Scroll all the way down to the bottom, do not click on the app links. There they will ask you to buy the app for your computer. After you have downloaded the program for your computer, the next step is to download the application on your iPad for $9.99. Now its not the greatest idea to purchase an iPad for this sole purpose, but if you already have one it can be another great tool. Once you have it downloaded, open the app, and in coordination with your computer select the designated IP address which will sync your ipad as a second monitor.
Do I need a Mac to use my iPad as a second monitor?
The last common question is, “Do i need a Mac?” No. No you do not. Air display is also compatible with Windows and there is even a windows program that is similar to Air Display named MaxiVista. In practice it virtually does the exact same thing, however I am not particularly familiar with it. This is because currently MaxiVista does not offer support for Mac users. So whether you have a Mac or PC, Air Display will work for you.
To sum everything up, Air Display can work for everyone, and a second monitor is just a few clicks away. Opening up your work space with a second monitor can be twice as productive. Great for businesses, marketing, and works well providing a link building service. It is even a great way to keep a music list playing that isn’t constantly being lost in an array of windows. Remember you do not need to purchase the application for your computer when using your iPad as a second monitor, so don’t waste your money. If you are worried about lagging then upgrading your internet service can never hurt. Combine that with a good router, and a clean computer and you should be running smoothly. This is just another great way to utilize your iPad.

Cool never thought about doing that with my iPad. I would think because of the size it would not make much of a difference. What do you think of it as a second monitor?

Haha Mitz, really like your words “I have a technology problem and I need it all” if you love technology and gadget and you become expert on this area, well, that’s really great, but I saw many people “just follow the tech and gadget trend” and just bough every new launch gadget without “think”, they just want to show others that they’re follow the high style.
